Put the parts of the bill beside each other
Ask for a written breakdown of the visit or membership, medicine, any tests, and follow-up. Ask which charges recur and what ending the service involves.
Most services in the limited online weight-care sample charged for membership and billed medicine separately, in the check dated September 26, 2026.
Those were advertised terms from selected services, not a survey of Boston prices.
Ask what you would owe if no medicine is prescribed. Then ask what you would owe if the proposed medicine is not covered.
Who gets the opening price, and for how long?
For semaglutide (Ozempic), the federal price listing checked September 26, 2026 offers the first two monthly supplies at $199 each.
The offer is for new patients aged 18 or older who live in the United States and pay outside insurance. It applies only to the two lowest starting strengths named in the offer.
Ask the pharmacist whether your prescription and circumstances meet those terms before counting on that price.
After those fills, the prescribed strength determines which listed monthly price applies: $349 or $499.
That introductory offer runs through December 31, 2026; its headline is not a promise of that price for ongoing care.
This kind of payment is called self-pay. Your insurer cannot reimburse you for these purchases. These purchases also cannot reduce your insurance deductible, which is what you must pay before certain plan benefits begin.
A medicine-only offer leaves the cost of the care visit unanswered. Ask for the full bill as well as the terms for the medicine.
